ABOUT US

Our program mission is to build a nationally-competitive program that will play at the highest level of NCAA Division III, and to be the model student organization at the College of Wooster.

Our approach to building success on and off the field focuses primarily on our program culture. It is not WHAT we do, but HOW we do it, that tells our story.

Our end goal is for Wooster men's lacrosse players to develop into the best version of themselves, over their four years, while exploring and engaging with the world. We do this by focusing on great instruction and building quality relationships, emphasizing an inclusive and supportive family atmosphere in which team members bring out the best in each other, and use three pillars to define our behavioral standards:

CITIZEN | STUDENT | TEAMMATE

We are a circle that never closes. You can talk to whoever, whenever, about whatever you need--a family that raises each other up, and helps each other to be their very best self, and to change their best!

STYLE OF PLAY

Our style of play is a unique part of what makes us who we are. We call it CONCEPTS AND FREEDOM. When a player has ultimate confidence in himself, and can wholly trust the people around him, and the schemes we are running, he is finally free to totally focus, and become immersed in his performance. We coach our players to develop and maintain that confidence, and create an environment in which they can prepare to perform with a quiet mind. Simply, lacrosse should be the best two hours of their day! Our style of play is defined by four areas:

RUN AND GUN OFFENSE

PRESSURE DEFENSE

HIGH-INTENSITY RIDE

JUICE

Ultimately, we teach our team members how to be elite fundamental players, and then give them the space and freedom to play fun and creative lacrosse.

2023: THE TRANSFORMATION

The first season under the direction of Head Coach Eric Seideman and Assistant Coach Joseph Pille, was a historic success! With a record of 13-4, the Scots were one of the most improved teams in the country, with 7 more wins than the previous year. Casey Steffen '24 was selected as the NCAC Defensive Player of the Year and an All-American. The Scots led the country in two statistical categories: Riding Percentage and Caused Turnovers by an individual player, while ranking #3 in team ground balls and caused turnovers per game. Head Coach Eric Seideman and Assistant Coach Joseph Pille were named the NCAC Coaching Staff of the Year. Shane Epstein-Petrullo was selected as a CSC Academic All-American, and the Scots had more NCAC Academic Honor Roll members than any of our conference opponents!

Looking forward to 2024 and beyond, the future is bright! A new standard of excellence has been set, and will continue to be challenged every day.
